CARBON CAPTURE & STORAGE
Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is a suite of technologies designed to reduce greenhouse gas emissions by capturing carbon dioxide (CO₂) at its source, transporting it, and storing it securely underground. The main goal of CCS is to prevent CO₂ from entering the atmosphere and contributing to global climate change. CCS can be applied to large-scale emission sources such as power plants, industrial facilities, and refineries.
The growing concentration of CO₂ in the atmosphere, primarily from the burning of fossil fuels, is the leading cause of anthropogenic climate change. Despite the global shift toward renewable energy and energy efficiency, fossil fuels still account for a significant portion of the world's energy supply. CCS provides a transitional solution that allows for continued use of fossil fuels while drastically reducing their environmental impact.
